Round 15 Predictions

MQD v EEW (8th v 4th) - Dragons continue their shocking run of form with another loss on the weekend. Things are starting to look grim now that HFC picked up a win. Only 1 point from the drop zone is not a place you want to be considering their last few games are agaisnt Epping and then a WPH double header. Might this be the end of the mighty Dragons in the PL? On the flip side the Tigers are keeping up the pressure on top spot with a handy win agaisnt penno away. Only 5 points gap means any teams above to slip up may lose their finals spot.

Should be a comfortable day out for the boys from Boronia - EEW 3-0

NMH v HFC (10th v 9th) -  Whatever the "Match of the round" is, this is the opposite. The 2 cellar-dwellers scrapping it out in what could possibly be the deciding game in their PL stint. WInner lives to fight another day, loser all but doomed to SL mediocrity. Normo's in a particularly tough spot having to back up with 3 games in a week. It is looking dire over at Harris Road and I struggle to see many more points for them this season considering their run home after Saturday is EWW/WRR/STA/WRR. HFC will be coming in hot on the back of a 6-1 drubbing of fellow struggle street residents Putney. Their run home not looking too positive either (EEW/WRR/EEW) but having your best win of the season puts them in the best mindset possible coming into Saturdays fixture. Hard to tip this one, could be a scoreless draw, could be 5-5, could be 7-0. Depends who shows up and who has the fire to stay up. My prediction is HFC 2-1 in the worlds worst display of football the PL has ever seen.

EPP v PEN (3rd v 6th) - Epping still yet to register a win against a team NOT in the bottom 3 since they beat STA back in round 6! It's been a 2nd half of the season to forget but will they turn that around with a home win against a languishing Penno outfit or will the steady slide into mid-table placings continue? With the gap to 5th a whopping 10 points and the team "chasing them" being Putney, Penno are seemingly on their own in the middle of the table with no real risk of moving anywehere anytime soon. 3 losses on the trot and having to play 3rd and 1st in their next 2 games the season is pretty much set for the Green Machine. Always up for a war and the EPP youngsters already brandishing a reuptation for being hot-headed when up against it, this match it set to be a bruising affair. The ref better sharpen his pencil becuase the cards will potentially fly. My prediction - EPP 3-1

PUT v WRR (7th v 5th) - Putney are just keeping their head above water recently, having only a 2 point gap to the bottom means each week they are praying the teams below also lose (not hard considering results this season) And having scored less goals than WRR have conceeded means this weekend they are up agasint it. Rovers still unbeaten after a scoreless draw with the Lions. Hardly revenge for the 4-0 they suffered in the first round but taking points from wph is no mean feat recently. Rovers are within sniffing distance of the top 4 with only goal differential being the difference between finals and an early off-season. If things go their way they could jump straight to 3rd and keep the dream of back to back premierships alive! My prediction - WRR 4-0

WPH v STA (1st v 2nd) - No doubt the match of the round. Top 2 teams, equal on points, both seemingly mirroring each others results over the last 5 weeks. Most potent attack vs strongest defense. Lions with the slight advantage being at home. Woodies seemingly prefer their small, tight, crowded pitch where they can control tempo, so they will be tested on the open pastures of Campbell Park. A win for either team provides vital breathing room coming into the final few games. Lions with PEN/MQD/MQD, Woodies with PUT/NMH/PUT. One could argue that is STA get the job done on the weekend it's done and dusted bar an epic upset. If Lions win there is still a question if the local rivals could spoil the party. Either way, by the time the whistle sounds on Saturday arvo we'll either have yet another year of the Lion or a potential party down at the Wood Dome! My prediction........Woodies 1-0
