Reserves was a great occasion. Free flowing football and both teams should have put away more chances than what they did. West Penno particularly will be disappointed in not sealing the game in the first half. Hot weather forcing constant changes and West Ryde gained more control in the midfield. The crucial penalty miss in the shootout from the West Penno player will haunt him forever. Cleared the fence and some more. Horrendous miss but that's football.
First Grade was more conservative in style in the first half in fact nothing to note that happened in that half. Game opened up slightly in the second with a late penalty call in extra time to seal the game.
Want to say, super impressed by the officials for both games. Both are familiar in the PL space but great to see young referees get rewarded and referee top matches on the biggest occasions.

You wonder whether First Grade played more passively given Ressies went hard out and conceded something like 4 goals in 20 minutes. Game opened up too much in Ressies and both right backs for each club got a little found out when the wingers were 1 on 1.
Dash was probably worst player on the pitch for the Ressies game.
West Penno will feel down particularly in First Grade of not winning. Couple of big chances that went begging. A real stalemate of a game though. Best two teams almost couldn't be separated.
Agree with refs. Heard the chick does W-League and you can tell. All cards were justified and handball at the end was the most blatant handball one could give. Reserves ref knew how the game should be played. Correct me if Im wrong but I think there were more goals than fouls in the first half.
Huge congrats to West Ryde. After disappointing finals they have gone through in the last couple of years, they finally have the reward they have reaped. West Penno gotta have their head up high too. They have lost some great players over the years and still manage to be the standard of the comp.

Rovers keeper - first and third goal he is in no man's land. That first goal should never ever happen in a Reserves game let alone a final.
West Penno RB (No. 12) - had a game to forget. Constantly made to look like a dog chasing his tail. Could not contain No.21 and eventually had to be taken off. Was at fault for the first two goals. Ended up in what looked like an extra man in midfield to contain No.21. A day to forget.

You must not play because as a player I reckon we've had more crap refs than good refs. And for a GF, you appreciate when you know you have a good ref doing your game.
And it's not like they both had a good game for their GF. They have both been quality of the years. First grade ref we saw ref the FG semi last year. Quality. The year before she did us again and quality. As for the reserves, had him over the last couple of years and has always had same consistent approach to games. Have never had an issue with him.
Consistency. That's all you want from refs and we've got that.
Last 3 years First Grade refs have had the best refs reffing FG (Reiddy, Juice and the W-League lady). Can't ask more...
Big call to say end of an era. Ressies WPH took WWR all the way to the end of the season only finishing 2nd on goal difference and then only loosing on penalties.
First grade are still a strong side also, unlcuky not to get the title this year and missing out on the GF win but thats football. WWR is the only team in recent history to threaten them.
I takes a lot to be dominant year in year out. Everyone gives WPH a lot of stick when they lose but thats what happens when you are at the top of the mountian for so long, you are just expected to win.
Congrats to WWR getting it done in both grades, lets see if they can back it up next year or will this just be a one and done?
Rovers had a strong recruitment this season. Lots of players missed out or barely got a run in the final when you had a fully fit squad ready to play.
Be interesting to see whether a couple of players leave to get better bang for their buck.
West Penno have lots of good youth teams coming through so I don't expect them to digress significantly.
The bar between Rovers & Lions and the rest of the comp is staggering though. At full capacity, they demolished their semi final opponents and there's nothing to suggest that North Ryde, Epping and Putney will make any effort to compete at the highest levels. We will see...
Congrats to both clubs for their efforts. Agree also that the refs were class. In fact I was watching the two Super League GFs from time to time and thought the SL officials were also class. Looks like well thought out allocations from the association.
I wonder if this forum realises this is easily the weakest assosciation league across NSW by a long shot... quality of football leaves nothing to be desired

lol wph won the comp by a country mile when they had good coc runs. The comp's depth is rubbish in comparison to many others. Will never match the likes of eastern suburbs and manly.

I feel like any team that comes second place and losses a GF in the last 5mins of extra time is unlcuky not to win it. Someimes the ball doesnt bounce your way and sometimes it does
Regarding the 3-1 win/lose, pre season comp WPH have historically not done well in it. The 4-1 win to WWR no idea what happened there with WPH and then the final was only 2-1, lost in extra time but still a close game.

Weren't west penno CoC runners up 2x? And it's not like they destroyed every other team in this comp to get there so I think you're full of shit.
That being said, the real test is how WRR go in this years CoC.

lol wph won the comp by a country mile when they had good coc runs.
