Looks like north Ryde have secured PL promotion.

anyone know anything about them?

I thought there was a finals series to determine promotion?

Nope

Promotion has never been based on finals

The first thing I ever look at is the ressies table. Generally you need depth to do well and particularly for sides coming up from Super League if you don't have a strong squad you're going to have a problem.

I would say with an average looking ressies team they will need to recruit pretty well but that's not based on anything more than my theory as not seen them at all.

St pats we're a much better side/squad when they went up. North ryde i'm guessing will recruit from Ryde Saints if they are to go down for the drop. But the squad as a whole is not good enough for PL, reserves definitely and firsts no where near the pace. Much bigger difference between PL and SL these days.

Back down next season

From what you can see on Dribl it looks like they have 1 striker who nets a few goals each game which is probably the main reason for their success. They will definitely pick up players from RSU who still wanna play PL and potentially even some from RAV who, again, just miss out on promotion.

North Ryde will go straight back down

Look, good on North Ryde.
To win your comp, whatever level, is a fantastic achievement.

But. To put this in perspective. North Epping are an embarrassment and they are 2nd or 3rd in SL.

Recently St Pats killed SL and are a strongish PL club and look like they definitely belong in PL.

Before that Dragons killed SL and look like a strong squad in PL.

North Ryde? Hmmmm. I have my doubts

As a North Ryde local, I have been able to watch majority of their matches this season.

It's been a fantastic consistenet season from the boys who are predominately aged 22 and below. They have been fitter than the rest of the comp and therefore have had the legs to out-run the rest of the comp. Ando coming in as coach has helped them to structurally be a better unit particularly ensuring that the wingers remain wide to spread the space of the pitch which then has allowed Gomez our striker to run wild through the middle.

I agree with comments above that there's nothing special about what we have done so far this season and that the quality of Super League has been well-below par. I can imagine more structurally sound teams in Premier League will match us both in physicality and in closing down space around Gomez. If he doesn't score, we have a pretty quiet day.

Being 22 and below, we will 100% get out-muscled by the stronger teams. St Pat's last year absolutely monstered us and I've heard that St Andrews, Hills Hawks, Normo particularly will be bigger forces to come up against whilst West Penno, West Ryde and Epping Eastwood to a degree will out-match us in the passing side of the game.

It will be a tough ask to remain in PL next season but confident that the boys will cause a couple of surprises over the season.

Unlucky to everyone else who has to play us at Magdala. An awful pitch to play on.

And no we won't be taking anyone from Ryde Saints. There's a postiive culture we want to establish at this club and no one from that club oozes class at all.

North Epping are going thru a rebuild stage their not in a hurry for promotion they've beaten every team in SL and play north Ryde this week. Every team I've seen wouldn't survive in prem big difference .

Let North Ryde finish and enjoy this season before you have them already relegated next season.

Things can change pretty quickly, who knows what everyones squads will look like next year.

North Epping haven't changed at all in the last couple of seasons. Get a fluky goal in the first couple of minutes and then park the bus and hope all goes well.

That's not how to get yourselves promoted and you won't be successful in the long-run either.

Talk about bad pitches, North Epping tops the cake on that concrete in the middle of the pitch.

Never parked the bus.

Jeez.....you know you're getting old when you remember the time Thornleigh were relevant.......

Looney Tulloch in goal and 10 donkeys from my recollection.

Exactly look at west penno

Were only saved from relegation by covid and then came back and started dominating again.

A whole lot can change from season to season.

Thunder management and higher ups at the club led them to their demise. Relatviely talented bunch back in the day, Say what you will about tulloch, one of the better shot stoppers to play at this level and you have to respect his commitment to continue playing to his age with a much changed squad.

Unfortunately for them, their new crop don't seem too invested and are there for the social aspect rather than have the drive to wanna return too Premier League.

Was one of the more enjoyable fixtures to play, would take Oakleigh oval surface and atmosphere over Boronia or the Hayes Park paddock

Magdala back in the day when Ryde City played there was a fantastic pitch.

But we never had lights to train on it and had to train on the oval up the top of pittwater road.

I've heard good things about the president and his rebuild of the club that once was Ryde City Gunners before Gladesville Ryde Magic took us over.
