Yes, Rangers were caught flat footed this afternoon. And I won't lie, it wasn't pretty. But the lads showed true grit and determination given the circumstances. A few of the boys were on the drink last night. Others had niggling injuries from the team building barefoot bowls session on Thursday.
On the other hand, WRR showed their true colours. They played one-dimensional football for 180 minutes. No tactical nuance or skill. Kick it long and see what happens. Someone should've let them know this wasn't pot-hole infested pitch of LH Waud, but the pristine turf of Christie Park. if you can't play quality football there, you have no hope.
Kick and chase might work once with the Rangers squad under the weather. I can gurantee it wont work a second time.

You are clearly either not from North Epping or were not at the games. If WRR are so dirty why did they only get 1 yellow card accross 2 games? I dont think there were any really bad challenges from both clubs in either of the games.
You know it's funny, and the above poster is correct.
Football hasn't come a long way recently, it's just same same but different. Many years ago, prior to the A-league, the state league teams used to play 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 with a sweeper and all focused on not making mistakes in their own 1/3, make the other team make mistakes in their attacking 1/3 and punish.
But now it's all about ticka tacka football, people moving aroudn left/right bla bla, but people forget thekey facts. defending and finishing. How the rest of it happens isn't really relevant!
how can you people sit here and state absolute nonsense like the above comments. There's no wonder Australian football is in the state that it is. Grass roots is where it all begins and if we have coaches stating that the build up to a goal is not important then what hope fo we have?
you can rock up and beat anyone on any day by kicking long, no question there, but how is that helpful or fun?
you learn nothing from it and there is zero enjoyment.
just look at epping red in super league. Talented kids from spirit, but they are being coached to play long ball, they hate it, when we played them the kids were filthy at their coach and did not enjoy the long ball tactics.

Yeah nobody really plays pretty football in this comp. Dragons probably are the closest but they seem to come undone on cow paddocks of pitches where oppositions just make it a scrap and exploit their lack of size and physicality. That and they are chokers mentally. WPH are dynamic as athletes but are pretty predictable. STA try to play for 5 mins and then revert back to go long and run as does every other team. NER can't even do that properly.

This isn't grass roots football though
We're mostly men who have been playing for 15 or more years
We know how to play football
We're also not the best otherwise we'd be getting paid to play state league and that means that we make mistakes
Yes you should try to play it out and have a nice build up but it's not the only way. With the quality of half the pitches in this comp and the quality of the players, playing out from the back everytime is going to cause you more problems than good.
Also the golden generation of Australian football- early to mid 2000s grew up playing in the 90s before we started with all this every team should play 4 5 1/4 3 3 and pass the ball 300 times before trying to attack bullshit.
The fact that as kids we played full field from the age of 9 probably encouraged the attack attack attack mentality as there was so much space to run and play those long balls. All you needed was a kid with a decent kick and a fast striker who could finish and you were guaranteed to score a lot of goals. You could argue that's somewhat the case today with many teams. When they changed the size of the fields for kids that encouraged shorter passing and more build up play. That coincided with the introduction of the Dutch curriculum and the 433 into all junior football in FFA associations.
Just a question - are WRR really good or are NERDS really trash, I haven't seen either play but the results don't make sense to me. One week nerds win against marconi dragons then they cop 5 from ryde what's the go?

If you believe the rumours, North Epping couldn't field a team vs WRR and players had to backup for both grades.
WRR have a strong squad and had to sit players out.
your all a bunch of big girls cant beleive the dribbel that goes on in here makes me laugh no wonder us bush boys dominated for so long send me your addresses i will post you all tampons
dragons might play the most attractive and most complex football like City but they will probably also choke at the as City usually do in the champions league.

Question
wrote on 02-May-22 23:50Just a question - are WRR really good or are NERDS really trash, I haven't seen either play but the results don't make sense to me. One week nerds win against marconi dragons then they cop 5 from ryde what's the go?

If you believe the rumours, North Epping couldn't field a team vs WRR and players had to backup for both grades.
WRR have a strong squad and had to sit players out.

Nwsfa's man city (Dragons) vs Liverpool (WPH).
only game of quality this comp sees with both teams playing some sort of style of football
Dragons quality will be too good.
Choke
wrote on 04-May-22 14:12dragons might play the most attractive and most complex football like City but they will probably also choke at the as City usually do in the champions league.
I was right
