Can they invent a disease to save them in PL again?

Or are they focusing too much on a super league team in the pre season...

Too early to call that WPH and Dragons will run away with the comp and be a two horse race? Liverpool vs Man City style

Gary Neville
wrote on 10-Apr-22 11:38

It will be WPH, Dragons and Normo fighting for top spot and are lighyears ahead of the comp. STA and WRR for 4th. The rest of the comp is so so weak. Ryde Saints are a joke and have a collective weight of about 200kg in their team. Epping Eastwood try to play out from the back when their team is full of gimps that shit themselves on the ball. And for North Epping, the least said about them the better

Similar to last season
wrote on 10-Apr-22 11:53

Its only two games in but the results are very similar to last years.

Penno, Epping Eastwood all starting slow but will no doubt gain some momentum half way through the season. It's almost guaranteed to happen.

West Penno with a full fit squad are going to be up there no doubt and I can't see them in the bottom half like last season.

North Epping are garbage. Last season they pretty much played 10 behind the ball and then countered at the right times. That's how they fluked points last season and it will need to be their strategy if they want to scrap out of relegation. Their midfield are so dysfunctional and turn over the ball so poorly, it's embarrassing at times.

Normo starting off well as they have done every season. Watch them drop points come 5 or 6 games in. Happens every year. They are the equivalent of Leicester City. Choke when it matters.

It should also be called out that whilst the hawks striker is a decent player, he may perhaps be better suited to sumo wrestling

Majority of the Junior Division 1 sides are looking like this future. I don't think clubs like St Andrews, Epping Eastwood, Normanhurst etc. have the junior pool talent to progress through the ranks and maintain a top quality level of football.

The quality of Premier League has significantly been decreased over the last 5 years and I believe it will be at the level of First Grade Super League in the next 10 years. The culture of football has changed for the worst and its showing on a grass-roots level.

For u21s: Dragons (if it's the same team as last 2 years, I'm not sure) were the stand-out team the last 2 years, winning 5+ nill often. Theyre a bunch of former npl kids I believe. St Pats have a decent 21s team too. Not sure about the others.

Dragons 21s of the last few years are no longer.
This team lost a handful of games over several seasons.
PL has taken the best of that bunch.

Dragons 18s are a red hot team and you will find most of them will be in the PL squad very soon

Exactly how well-run clubs like WPH do it.
Dying clubs like Saints and NER don't have a bright PL future

What pathways?! They have no junior teams in Div 1 until 18s. They are not developing their own players and just have a commitee member associated with Spirit funneling the players in.

Highly doubt there would be many players in their 18s,21s and PL that would have played much of their junior football with the Dragons.

No idea

Dragons PL have a total of ZERO players from Spirit. And we have no Committee members from Spirit. Good try though

Looks like you have an axe to grind with Mac for some reason.
Someone a few comments ago stated they have a bunch of 21s in there PL squad this season.
And a quick look shows they have 16/1, 18/1 and 21/1 this season.
Wrong on a few counts me thinks

wrote on 14-Apr-22 14:00

Mac dragons have a few ex spirit coaches pulling quality in.

There is that and the location of the club which is very central for bordering associations which makes it very attractive for some people with the commute.

Thank goodness one of the clubs in that region had the brain power to put a squad together. None from that area have been compeitive for years(Ravens,West Ryde, Putney, Gladesville Sharks, HFC, Mac Uni,Hunters Hill).

Maybe the squad doesn't have juniors, but who cares, if they can put together a decent PL setup, good luck to them.

And alot of thos U21/1 from last year were ex spirit off cuts - well thats what the rumours are.

Your last comment is incorrect.
The majority of that 21s team had been together for many years and many had never played anywhere but Mac

Forget dragons and there players from 18s, 21s going to PL. we have some guys in our team who have been part of the club for more than 10 years. I myself have played for 13 years for the same club. Now that's loyalty and a pathway.

Harsh
wrote on 15-Apr-22 08:25

Bit harsh mate. 13 years in any sport let alone at the same club is definitely an achievement. Longevity and loyalty is admirable. Only thing is I don't think that's particularly unique. I know of some older blokes who have been playing for 20+ years though not necessarily in PL. There definitely look to be some guys in their late 30s still playing PL which is definitely a big deal.

26 years in PL! That's impressive, start at 16 or still going mid to late 40s? I thought I did alright with 22 sheesh

WPH seem to have recovered quite well following a lull during the COVID season

Mac Dragons again strong start could be hard to stop, Normanhurst typically start well but fade away once other teams match fitness returns. Ryde Saints and Nerds likely to fight out for last place. Hawks and Penno too early to see but I doubt any of them would get relegated. EEW and STA both quite a negative style of play and love to grind to results, either of them could be top 4 or mid table.

Mac Dragons and WPH the teams to beat this season.

My money on Ryde Saints to get relegated and West Ryde Rovers will finish somewhere between 6th to 9th
