Confirmed. Per GHFA website:

'GHFA Games for 23/24 May are postponed.

Christie Park closed for Friday 22 May.'

Enjoy the weekend off gents.

Pennant hills is open, thornleigh is open.

Surely they can move the PL/SL games around to get the teams on the paddock.

it's not rocket science that it was going to rain in the morning, then clear up for the afternoon.

BLOODY JOKE GHFA!

20mm of rain and they close the parks

Two weeks ago we had 160mm and still played half the SL/PL round.. How does that work?

City of RYDE parks due to review closures at 3pm

Called it too early I'd say

time for a change

If we had a hills association we'd be playing..

Looking fine from the chopper. Not much more rain expected. Surely only certain grounds would need to be closed, or even just juniors cancelled? Will there be a re-assessment?

It's fair enough though. It's supposed to rain overnight as well. We all want to play but we can't all have what we want hey.

Ryde council closed every ground except ELS Hall..

Word is they cancelled games due to the fear of players getting sunburnt... What a joke.. How can Rugby League and Union play, but football gets called . Can anyone explain?

Pretty piss poor effort from the councils, but i think the grounds would have been soft but not unplayable.

Lifer
wrote on 23-May-15 18:02

I think the GHFA should let the council know that at the end of the day this is park football and there are about a million other things players, coaches, referees etc would rather be doing on a Sunday than playing catch up games. Sure they can't control the weather but how about some common sense and make a call the morning of at least. It was sunny all day today. I'm not having this shit either that you are in more danger of being injured in the wet. If that was the case no football would be played anywhere in Europe. Such dogshit from the councils and the GHFA.

Lewis your built like a brick shithouse you could easily play league or union.

For those who still don't understand

GHFA have no say in the closure of grounds! The decision to close grounds comes from the councils, as they own the grounds and lease them to each club to use.

In my opinion you are more likely to get injured playing on a rock hard dust bowl than a ground with a bit of mud/water on it.

Hey Simpleton, We are having a go at the councils not the GHFA... So in fact you are the simpleton. Noone can explain why other codes played but all Football grounds were closed.

Hey Lewis M, your reading is about as good as your knowledge. Please read the whole thread then feel free to reply again. Simpleton

Councils should apply some common sense when there's only been 20mm of rain and not close grounds for Sundays at 2pm on Friday.

Sunshine all day yesterday and today should allow clubs to evaluate fields for Sunday fixtures when there hasn't been too much rain. Surely 80-90% of grounds are playable today. Could impact PL/SL with catch up games and us nuffies in lower grades with or 4 rounds on Sundays.

Apologies

Willy

Hills left the decision to the clubs. The way it should have been across all councils. Went to 2 fields yesterday and they were bone dry..

THE ROCK
wrote on 25-May-15 07:01

Surely GHFA could have re-arranged to play the PL/SL last weekend at open grounds rather than just do a blanket cancel because it was too hard to arrange.

They did decide to start the comp after easter, which put pressure on trying to get through 18 fixtures and now we are left with at least 2 double headers + more most probably.
