Watching from on the hill the problem starts from the coach. All day his attitude sucked hard towards the referee.

Jules did have a few kind words towards the ref all day, but in my view they should not be where they are. It will come down to them and YMCA and possibly ravens(Juice maybe you can comment on Ravens). I don't think WPH has played YMCA yet. Early days... with at least 14 weeks left! Plenty of points on offer.

The only club now to have been in PL since inception is PEN.

No, this can't be. Things are not looking good. Wph one of,I think, only 2 clubs who have been in PL1 continuously since its inception in the 70s. What is the club committee doing about this? How has it come to this? Drastic action needed to turn this situation around. The club committee needs to do something and fast or else ignominy!

Blah blah blah

Move on. WPH were decimated by the old coach taking most of last years team and this year was always going to be about rebuilding. When they manage a 90 minute performance a win will come. Matter of time. Don't know many coaches who wouldn't have yelled at that ref, he was pathetic. PHD better on the day. Simple stuff really.

"The only club now to have been in PL since inception is PEN."

See http://www.ghfa.com.au/index.php/new-competition/ghfa-premier-league?showall=&start=2

PEN, RAV, STA & WPH at the start in 1977 but only PEN and WPH continuously since then. Looks like it will be down to PEN only at end of season. Although WPH has had at least 1 close call since then, I am not confident things can change for them this year :(

West Penno went to PL (2) in 1987.. that's a drop.. Juice is right.

no need to worry as there is 1 and half rounds to go. yes i brought 5 1st graders with me and a few more couldn't play due to work commitments. there are still a heap of good players there and it will only be a matter of time before the tide turns. it is a massive job for any coach to do when so many 1st grade players have left. like i said early days jules will make this team his and wins will come.

Your exactly right. Beecroft a few years back were sitting pretty after beating thornleigh in round 3. Was own only win of the year!

Old Player

I stand corrected, WPH in PL2 in 1987, under Brian Lofberg I think. Still its a long time in top company and the question might be whether Jules can handle the pressure of this year?

Is that the season Seale and Boz moved to Penno?

Nope, that was back in 2006.

Memo
wrote on 20-May-15 15:01

Boz, Seale moved to Penno and others to Thorns and elsewhere in 05 after poor coach, player, management relations developed in the wake of Gus resuming coach duties in early 05. Gus had done a fine job in 03 but left for greener pastures when $$$ were offered in 04. Kev Iredale took the reins at short notice that year and took the team to the premiership, which was the last time wph finished on top. Basically it has been downhill ever since and things now beginning to look even bleaker this year. Pretty hard to remember such a bad start for West Penno.

Disappointed
wrote on 27-Jun-15 19:05

Looks like this prediction was well picked. This is a massive let down for the club whose decline can be traced back to the rout that was started by Gus 10 years ago. Some serious re-building by someone who understands club football is now called for.

Recollections

WPH were pretty ordinary in 95 and 96. Only poor Normo and Beecroft sides were worse. Any other time and they would have gone.

No club is too good to avoid the drop. Look at the Y and North Epping.

wrote on 27-Jun-15 22:01

Juice what happens if Hawks ken and Pumas go, I've herd it's all but done just needs to be sanctioned by Football Nsw. Also glenhaven from SL looking like they could get promoted what about that they will also be in the hills association. Some decisions by ghfa to restructure PL & SL would be needed.

West Penno rebuilding this year, was always going to be that way after last years losses. Still time, anything can happen!

Juice
wrote on 28-Jun-15 00:09

Just simply means if WPH finished last they'll most like stay up much like the y did I think when they finished last in an 8 team comp and the next season went to a 10 team comp.

No refs. No champs of champs. No hills comp. And from what I hear internally FNSW are not interested.. Bye bye WPH..

Why are WPH able to sign up a new goal keeper so late in the season?? By all reports they have signed an older ex NSW premier league player also...Phil Wurth who played at the back last three matches who was also after the cut off. Are there rules for some clubs and looks like its different for others at GHFA

Hawkeye

No ! Yawn just stating facts. And your players were sent off late in the game No help, i did see Phil play saturday and he is still a pretty good player, abit slower but he held them together, just want to find out why he was signed after the cut off.

Just because two of your keepers have season ending injuries it does not allow you to bypass the rules and sign a player after the cut off

no matter what you say this is clearly special treatment for the associations favourite team

Phil was already registered playing in a lower division for WPH. Cheyne has returned to WPH after a stint at the Brumbies. We lost both of our keepers to season ending injuries and he was cleared to play by the GHFA. I thought the special treatment BS would die with the Iredale's departing but I guess not. Hawk, I wouldn't bite at the banter about 9 players, obviously from someone who wasn't at the game, otherwise they would've know both players were sent off with little time left on the clock and had no bearing on the outcome of the game. The refereeing on the other hand.....

Never heard of a rule for late Regos for a keeper?
While I don't think it's a bad rule, it has not been apparent to all.

What's stopping anyone from signing a keeper and playing him on the field then? This rule is bullshit if you ask me

JH7
wrote on 15-Jul-15 15:09

I am no expert on the GHFA By-Laws, but was not aware of a late registration exception rule either. Below is all I could find in the By-Laws relating to registrations: 4.15. No player may be registered with the Association after 4.00pm on 31st May or the Friday preceding the 31st May if the 31st May falls on a weekend. Regardless, we (Ravens) can't use that as an excuse if we were to be relegated - but it would be good to know what the rule actually is. On a slightly different topic but related to unfamiliarity with GHFA rules, I remember back in the early 2000s we registered Damien Luksic, Richard Luksic and Ross Kethel - we started the season okay and then had a 3-3 draw with West Penno at Campbell Park. On the Monday or Tuesday after that game we were notified that Ross and Richard hadn't received the appropriate releases from their state league clubs (even though they hadn't been re-signed) - someone must have recognised them and asked some questions. We were therefore forced to forfeit the games that Ross and Richard had played in and we then had to have them serve their 4 or 6 week clearance period after receiving a letter from their former clubs saying they were free to play for us. Anyway it is good to have Cheyne back in the competition though - a blo0dy good keeper!

We're still waiting for the GHFA to find Kev Iredales missing yellow card that would have stripped them of the 2010 ressies premiership and seen him miss the GF.

But hey, it's WPH they can do what they want.

Change in the GHFA committee can't come soon enough.

just reading the last weeks post if its the same Phil Wurth i knew then he knows what it takes to win and unsettle the opposition, good player too but in my opinion he is a dirty player to be honest, you cant enjoy the game when he is out there you know he is just waiting for the big hit. Dont understand it cos he can actually play but its not always about winning it should be enjoyment. Give it up Phil , i will be following the last few weeks closely and hoping that WPH definitely get relegated. Thats the way id like Phil Wurth and WPH to finish up.

in most comps keepers are always exempt as they are a specialist position.
