I noticed every time before a EPL match kicks off - like 10 minutes before - the sprinkler systems open up and gives a good 10 min. spray?
What;s with this?
Also noticed the same at the recent AFC Cup games.
Is it to lubricate the field and let the ball skip/skid on the surface?
Not all teams in the EPL choose to water their grass pre-game, its up to the ground staff and club. Some teams prefer to play on a moist field so that the ball skips across the field and some prefer a drier pitch.
Whether you water your home pitch pre-game is up to you. Might help to keep the dust and sand down on some of our pitches though.
