Did you write remember twice in the same sentence? "Remember how close everything was last year remember..." That threw me off, sorry phantom. Besides that and the over-use of the word "figure" , i agree to some extent with your post, the bit where you wrote "thats laughable". But i was laughing at the post. As long as we both got something out of it.

well done all in general, give yourselves a pat on the back. All of you. Including you phantom, oh and batts, you too. I know your out there somewhere waiting to type the word "deflectors" again. here's your chance, NORTH EPPING ARE MY FAVOURITES TO WIN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.

I agree with the sentiment of the grey area's last email. So many times on this site you see someone putting in what is just another opinion and people jump straight on them and go way over the top. One would be forgiven for thinking there are alot of repressed angry people out there who use this site as a venting tool rather than a way to conduct a reasonable discussion about football - which I think is its intention. Quite sad really. Have a think about it. If you were face to face with a person you wouldnt be so vitriolic to them.

Generally if a team wins, even if against a supposedly weaker opposition, their odds will remain the same or tighten in 1/2 a point for example. They do not usually go out. I could understand if they lost to weaker opposition that their quote would go out. As for Roselea coming in a massive $13 from their original quote, that is interesting. They beat the weakest team in the comp, so the merit of the win is debatable. If they beat a side like PEN or NMH, or won 2 in a row against tougher opposition then the tightening of their price would be justified. Certainly is interesting to see your thoughts Grey Area, keep it up.

I did go a bit over the top didnt i. I like your opinion actually, usually not too biased, i do believe you have a few of those odds wrong though and thats just my opinion i guess.. I agree totally with you observer, and i apologise.. i wont get so caught up in it all... as itis only a forum isnt it... STA to be equal favs with NER, NOR not far behind with PEN and WPH THL to be fighting with the above aswell... it suspect it will be close this year, closer than last.. Out.....

Phantom i apologise for getting involved and adding another perspective on the 06 season. NER backwards - just beating a weaker side which most people agree Thornleigh are. WPH drawing with a team that has won the championship 2 years running. Just putting my 2 cents in like everyone else. These odds are based 50% on my opinion and 50% on the opinion on this forum. Again i apologise for trying to be creative.

I agree with Observer in that it is easy to nuts at each other when not face to face. Not showing your real identity makes it easier again. Its the same old cowardice argument again & again. Juice, Ben & I seem to cop plenty, which is fine. Ben & Juice are big & ugly enough to handle it. I wonder whether the cowards could if the shoe was on the other foot. We have to remember that The Grey Area is only having a laugh. We can't put any money down anyway. Or else the NERds would only win 2 nil again this week against the 2 blues and the game after that against the tiger cubs and hence widen our odds. Then smash our co-favourites Penno in game 4 with $13's. Oh and Teach: Re the "Deflectors" It was all a game between mates taking the mickey out of me (although I knew about it anyway). So get over it. We have moved on. How many times do I have to explain it that groups on this site like to take the mickey out of their own mates, with most of the time they all know and have a laugh at training. WPH boys do it. The NERds do it, and even Budgie, Joel & others do it with me. Not every wind up is serious. I know its a 'trap for young players' but you will learn. At least you appreciate proper grammar.

Hey someone ought to update the latest odds here ,,, not that u could wager a bob anyway! have you consider shorter odds for Normo now?? as for real gambling - why would someone earning 100,000 pounds a week feel the need to gamble? beats me. http://www.football365.com/news/story_182219.shtml

wrote on 10-Apr-06 11:03

"have you consider shorter odds for Normo now??" I don't think that Normo should be at shorter odds now. Two lucky 1-0 wins doesn't exactly make them competition favourites. I still see Penno and St Andrews to be the favourites for this years comp.

when you win - your lucky. when you lose - your unlucky. such is football - too much luck involved.

Croupier
wrote on 10-Apr-06 11:04

You are correct of course gambler. But the answer lies somewhere between having too much money and too much time on your hands. Throw in the fact that a lot of "the lads" like to throw it around ($ that is) and you have a recipe for disaster. Remembering that Rooney was seeing a prostitute grandmother for a long while, you don't have to be Sigmund Freud to work out that no matter how talented the kid is there is not much going on upstairs.

don't know about throwing it around..but i like to see P/L players get a stipend of $100 for the weekend (at least).

wrote on 10-Apr-06 12:06

I agree optimist, 2 wins over the 2 comp favourites in consecutive weeks is nothing notable. i would still place NER and STA as the top 2, although STA drew to a "depleted" WPH and then lost to a "lucky" Normo, i think they might be "luckier" in the next games. They'll clean the thunder up and then follow it up with a smashing of Ravens, from there, no stopping them. NER will sweep the floor with EEW and then get some points at PEN. both teams will be near the top of the table come May. The early fliers, NMH and LEA, will run out of luck and points.

Smithy

They can be near the top in may. Its in July when you want to be near the top Early fliers!!There has only been two games!!

Remember the Raven
wrote on 10-Apr-06 14:00

Its too early for any kind of analysis. If you remember the Ravens a few years back had accumulated 15 points by the half way mark (old 8 team comp tho) and gained only 1 point in the entire 2nd round to finish just outside the relegation place by the odd point. I doubt that will happen to Normo (they are made of sterner stuff) but anything can happen from round 2. St.A's could easily win from 5 pts down.

Paul the Punter
wrote on 10-Apr-06 14:06

Very true Raven but if St.A's draw with the obviously improving Thunder and Normo gain another 3 points against the hapless Ravens at Normo park it makes the diff 7. Now that is starting to be an issue.

Paul the Punter
wrote on 10-Apr-06 14:09

Yes but surely 2 wins against the comp favourites does mean something. Doesn't make them favourites but certainly means Normo will be either in the semis or close enough. You cannot fluke 2 games against quality opposition. Whereas St.A's should be more worried. There are only 2 games gone but 5 points behind Normo already gives the northerners a handy buffer. If St.A's drop anymore points against the Blunder this weekend it will spell the end of their title challenge. It is early days but a pattern is developing.

good predictions Paul the punter, i do believe that STA will claw the lead back in the next 2 months or so, i do predict a tight fight for second between NER and LEA and i will aslo predict a suprise package to come 4th. more predictions: -Batts will get on here and use the word "deflectors" again -someone will have a go at everyone for hidding behind a name -batts will use the word "deflectors" -someone will pick the ravens to win this week even though there isnt a game -batts will try to sound mature composed and give his "we're all mates having a laugh" speech again. -STA to go scoreless for another 2 games, finally scoring against the ravens in round 5 in a 5-1 loss. -Batts to use the word "deflectors" in a post that is all for this week, more predictions next week, JtB
