Ressies KEN vs PHD Despite out-pointing them over 18 rounds the Bushboys have found the Pumas to be their one and only bogey side. Two of their three losses came against them (the other a forfeit loss to Normo in their final game). Take away that 3-0 forfeit loss and 8 of the 16 goals KEN ressies conceded were in their two losses to PHD... Ouch! Pumas ressies, like their first grade side, play an up tempo passing game while the Bushboys rely on solid defence, composed finishing and good squad depth. But PHD has clearly found the key to unlocking Juice and his boys' stingy defensive unit. Big Question: Will the Pumas young legs prevail over the Bushboys old heads again? Mr EUS Predicts: PHD 3-1 with Langford and Rosier to once more outpoint Pintabona and co. STA vs EEW Nothing to split these sides this year. A 0-0 draw at Boronia matched by a 2-2 draw at Eastwood. Clearly two evenly matched sides. EEW's Petrovic, if he doesn't get the call-up to 1sts after last week's four goal effort, will definitely be one for the Woodies to watch. While the Tigers would do well to hunt down STA's Liam Kelly who is striking at better than a goal every two games. Expect this to be a typically hard fought derby with no love lost and no quarter given. Big Question: Given there's been nothing to split them this year will Eastwood's band of fiery redheads be able to compose themselves for a potential shoot out? Mr EUS Predicts: 1-1 aet with EEW to triumph 4-2 on penalties. Firsts KEN vs PHD Contrary to reserve grade results the Bushboys have had the wood on Pumas in their two match-ups in the 1's this season. A dominant 4-1 display at home in the first game of the year backed up by a 2-0 triumph on a wet track at Les Shore later in the season. The Bushboys miserly defence led by NG is complemented by a front line choc full of attacking options in PK, Huss, Tai Smith, Matt Seale and Ben Davis with Roodenburg chiming in. Muggo, Monty and co. will have to manage wave after wave, while Seany Mitchell and the Triangle do their best to put away what limited chances come their way. Big Question: Will the sting of last year's GF loss spur the Pumas onto greater heights? Mr EUS Predicts: KEN 2-1 with a Bushboys player of note sent off and missing for the GF. WPH vs EEW Another fascinating match-up. These two sides played twice over the Queen's Birthday weekend - otherwise known as the GHFA PL's 'Champions League' weekend. Had it been a Champions League tie the Tigers would've won it on away goals - losing 1-0 at home on the Saturday only to triumph 3-2 at Campbell on the Monday. The Lions have had the equivalent of a football flu lately, coughing and spluttering their way through the winter rounds. A last gasp winner against STA on the penultimate Wed night enough to see them through in 3rd. While the Tigers made hard work of sewing up 4th spot, relying on a much overdue momentum building 4-1 win over RAV last Saturday to progress. Perhaps this suggests the veritable end of the road for both sides no matter the outcome this Saturday, with the gulf between 3rd/4th and 1st/2nd this year too large to bridge in Week 2 of the finals. Big Question: Can the Lions young cubs rediscover the goal scoring edge which has deserted them in recent times or will the Tigers more experienced heads find enough to topple the kings of the second tier team jungle? Mr EUS Predicts: WPH 2-1 aet with a bumper crowd migrating from the KEN/PHD game to watch the drama unfold in the extra time. 'David Middleton' Fact for the Round: All 8 teams playing in the weekend's semi finals tasted victory at View St against the Redbacks during the season proper. KEN ressies had the biggest win 7-0, EEW 1st's by the narrowest margin 2-1. Best of luck for the weekend, gents!

All but Normo tasted victory against the Redcracks at View Street this year...pretty uninteresting fact. Not hard to do when they only win 2 games in both grades...reserve grade didnt even win at home

Mr Eus, are you any relation to Mr E?

Thanks for your input, Ms Molan. Mr EUS admits it's hardly a ground-breaking stat that all 8 semi finalists beat the bottom placed club at their home ground. The point was just to say that all have good memories of the semi-final venue this season. However, dig a little deeper into this stat and there may be more to it... For instance, WPH won 5-0 there in 1sts while EEW only won 2-1 - perhaps this suggests View St suits some sides style of play better than it does others? Perhaps it suggests nothing of the sort? Mr EUS will leave you to ponder.
