A masterclass hattrick from Beecroft veteran and hallow leader, Batts, was not enough to overcome a scrappy Thornleigh Thunder side on Sunday at Roselea. Batts was superb for the Wombats and inspired a comeback which fell short as Thunder's defence held on. Without many of their superstars, Thornleigh looked frail at times and Beecroft assualted their defence led by the enigmatic Batts. The opening goal was scored within minutes after kick off. Beecroft took a shock lead through Batts who exploded onto a ball managing to keep it in from the baseline, drilling it past the Thunder goalkeeper and deflecting off a defender into the back of the net. Controversy surrounded the goal as it appeared the ball had already gone over the line, however referee Shane Dickson awarded the goal with no hesitation despite the pleas of Thunder players. Batts claimed the goal to his name, yet many agree that it was an own goal. Thunder caught Beecroft napping with two goals, which included a pearler of a free kick flying in to the top left corner. Batts was in disgust with his troops and began to become frustrated and lose his composure. It was 2-1 at halftime and Thunder appeared to be in control however Batts once again against all adversities slotted in an equaliser to keep the Wombats in with chance. Batts begun to wind up some drunken Thornleigh hooligans and their fearless Manager; 'Boris'. Once again Batts and his teammates were in disagreement about several halftime tactics and was refused to pass the ball to a fellow player from Beecroft because he had apparently 'abused' him at halftime. Such abuse was not officially recorded however there were rumours quick to reach the ears of many, that Batts slapped several players including an innocent bystander who attempted to quell the violence. Such accusations are indeed disturbing. Thunder pulled back into the lead when a rocket shot deflected of the David Luiz/Puyol/ Collocini looking bloke from Beecroft. Thunder were up 3-2 and a cracker off a shot 15 minutes later from their former Player/Manager seemed to seal the victory. However Batts rallied his troops and hit back, completing his hattrick (and winning the match ball for his efforts). In celebration he once again riled up the Thornleigh faithful, with very odd looking pushups. Seconds later in a moment of madness, Batts abandoned his teammates walked off the field to get a drink from a bubbler. Without permission from the referee to come back on, he strolled on as if he was the Fresh Prince of Bel Air and began to swear at many including his own teammates, opposing players and staff. Thornleigh looked shaky in the last minutes and this didnt help by one of their drunken hooligans yelling very loudly. Batts had the chance to pull a fourth and stunning equaliser off a cross into the box, with only minutes to remain. However the stalwart fired wide and the final whistle blew two minutes later. Thunder holding on by the skin off their teeth. Official reports have been filed for the incidents involving Batts. In summary they are as follow:
- Assaulting innocent male. (NOTE: Was a minor) - Assualting his own players. - Leaving field without permission and returning to it without permission - Wearing the same numbered shirt as three other players in the Beecroft team. (Hence none of his goals should have counted) - Swearing at opposition fans and medical staff.
