A decision has now been made about the format for the 2010 Best Defence Award. A prize of a $100 Coles/Myer gift card will be awarded the winning team (courtesy of our anonymous sponsor).

The Rules will be:-

Best Defensive Team (1st & reserve grades)

1. To be eligible for the Best Defensive Team prize, the winning team must be represented in the Forum’s Golden Boot tally for that season.

2. The Forum prize ($100 Coles/Myer gift voucher) will be awarded to the team at the end of the competition rounds which has the least goals scored against it as shown on the official GHFA results table. If this team was not a participant in the Golden Boot tally, the prize will be awarded to the next team that is. If there is more than one eligible team which shares the lowest number of goals scored against it, the team appearing highest on the ladder will be the winner.

3. The Forum encourages participating team Coaches/Managers to institute a 3, 2, 1 concensus point score system for the best defensive player each round, to keep their own tallies and to award the Best Defence prize at the end of the competition rounds to the individual player in the Best Defensive Team who has accrued the highest number of points.

4. The name of the winning player is to be announced on this forum by the winning team.

5. Admin decisions and interpretation of these rules will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Thunder came third in the comp LY
yet conceded the most goals at 34,
even more than NOR (32) who are now gonnne.

Just shows you need to score goals to win!!!

Go Thunder

and the season ain't over yet...

you choked this time last year remember.

winning the premiership by 1 goal doesn't guarantee you a championship.

Let the games begin...

I think Penno won the premiership by 2 points.....and no it doesn't guarantee them a championship, but winning the premiership does guarantee them champions of champions football.

They were the best team in the competition again this season, and proved it over 18 rounds.

Anything can happen in semi finals football - so whether they make and win the GF or not doesn't change the fact that they were still the best team this season!

DOESNT MATTER WHAT PENNO DO THEY ALWAYS SEEM TO BE CHOKERS? THEY JUST WON BACK TO BACK PREMIERSHIPS?

LAST TIME THAT WAS DONE WAS SOME 20 ODD YEARS AGO.

MAKE GF OR NOT THEY ARE AGAIN THE BEST SIDE IN THE COMP. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN IN FINALS.

IM SURE EVERY TEAM WOULD'NT MIND A PREMIERSHIP UNDER THEIR BELT, LET ALONE 2!

Congratulations to Pennant Hills and West Pennant Hills for taking out the forum's Best Defence Awards for 2010, deservedly so, as respective Premiers of the 1st and reserve grade comps.

The Forum prize of $100 Coles/Myer gift card, courtesy of an anonymous donor, will go to the player in each of these teams whose management determines is the best individual defensive player of that team over the premiership rounds.

As part of the rules for this award, we encouraged participating team Coaches/Managers to institute a 3, 2, 1 concensus point score system for the best defensive player each round, to keep their own tallies and to award the Best Defence prize at the end of the competition rounds to an individual player in the winning teams.

Can Duck from Pennant Hills and Juice from WPH advise by private message or email to admin@ghfapremierleague.com the names of the winning players and an address to which the prizes can be posted.

The name of the winning player from each respective team is to be announced on this forum by the winning team.

The winner of the best Defence Player for 2010 season in first grade goes to Peter Colosimo. Pete is the sweeper and captain of the 1st grade Pennant hills side.

A super year at the back and always leads the team by example.

looks like it was a 3 way tie in First Grade.

Pennant Hills -18
Kenthurst -18
St Andrews -18

What was the tie breaker used?

Should have been most clean sheets to break the deadlock... If you're talking about a defensive award... Not sure if Penno still would have won that? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

The matter was well debated earlier in the season and this was the favoured method, see earlier posts here. Any rate Penno had 8 clean sheets, Ken 7 and Sta 5. Penno deserved winners.
