If anyone from NWSF Association reads this (everyone knows they do read this forum) is there any chance you can promote your own Gilmore Cup by perhaps just posting scores on your Facebook page? Im interested and im sure lots if other people are also. Thanks

All the PL-AA clashes to be more than 3.5 goals for the PL side. Eastwood to beat Thornleigh West Ryde to edge out St Pats in extra time. WPH - Epping, this could be anything if WPH actually play their first team. It's very likely to be men against boys.

A lot of teams simply enter to have a run and try out new potential players / younger squads.
STA will be up there at the end of the season competing for top 4 / finals as always.

Correct, these games are just a run out - that’s why WPH played the last 30 mins or so with 6 of last years ressies on the pitch and never had less than 3 during the game. To be fair, STA tried to and did play some nice stuff at times but WPH were all on it last night and when they hit their levels nobody can live with them.

No Mention
wrote on 24-Feb-21 16:05

No mention how the Tigers got humiliated against a Super League side? Thought not. Pre-season games are just pre-season games. You can't read into them and if you did you'd be predicting for Tigers and Woodies to be relegated.

Cpt Obvious
wrote on 24-Feb-21 17:01

No team is at their best during pre-season, so the results of a pre-season cup should be taken with a gigantic grain of salt. Teams play different formations, people are still looking to register or aren't available this early on. It's not uncommon for a SL or even an AA team to get a result against a PL side. Hell, the last 2 years WPH have been beaten early on in the cup and then gone on to dominate the competition so I wouldn't call anything this early on.

Yeah they are a SL team but credit where its due. They will win SL by a mile. In saying that, there’s no way the Epping Eastwood team was anywhere near full strength. They will be better than that

Idiot Coach
wrote on 25-Feb-21 17:05

Yeah. Idiot. Won the double in firsts and ressies in both of the two seasons he’s coached. Has plenty of NPL standard players who aren’t interested in leaving because of the club culture and squad spirit he has helped build even before becoming coach. Reached the last CoC final. Beaten NPL side in FFA Cup. Yeah, SZ, you’re an idiot.....

Juventus
wrote on 25-Feb-21 17:07

Actually Kane has gone to Juve. The good news for WPH is it’s a swap deal with Dybala. Certainly no less ridiculous than the original story.....

wrote on 25-Feb-21 17:08

Maybe their striker could be alright at the higher level though defenders on the whole at that level are a different world than the hap hazard standard of PL. WPH are not a team of standout individuals accept their striker maybe, but a standout team as a unit. Would be interesting to see how they fare without their striker?

Should be an interesting mix of styles in the final. St Pats high intensity pressing vs Penno's slick ball movement. Can Penno go one better than last year of will Pats be the first Super League club to lift the trophy?

Happy Gilmore

Penno will have too much for them

My view
wrote on 02-Mar-21 17:07

Penno I think. Have to give them credit for the semi. We could have been 3 or 4 up inside 29 minutes but they hung in there despite going a goal down and edges back into it. Whilst we were a bit below par on the night in some aspects of our game, take nothing away from Penno, they played a good brand of pacy, attacking football and on balance a draw was the right result. After that it’s a lottery and an inch here or there on a couple of penalties settled it. Good luck to both sides but if Penno approach the game in the same way they should win.

You’re kidding
wrote on 03-Mar-21 18:02

‘Good brand of pacy, attacking football’ and ‘slick ball movement’? This must be Penno players. Penno’s side looks awful this year, definitely worse than last year and will show on the ladder at season end when they’re near the bottom again. WPH were just shocking and played the worst I’ve seen them play in a long time.

Er, no
wrote on 03-Mar-21 20:02

Absolutely not Penno, just giving “my view“ on what I saw. Yes they did play pacy attacking football, taking advantage of us throwing men forward, and in my view we’re better than they showed last year. Yes, we were off our game in some respects and had we been on our game we’d have won because our best is better than anyone else - again “my view” - but that isn’t Penno’s fault. I still think WPHC will win the league comfortably again and a wake up call early on never hurt anyone.

St Pats outplayed Penno in every aspect of the pitch. Better running, better pressing, better direct runs through towards goal. Found that Penno have got good ball-winners in the field of the park but don't have any skill in regards to weighting a through ball to a striker. Although its still pre-season and all teams participating in this comp, didn't have a full strength squads playing, I don't think anyone can make any judgements on how this season will fare up. West Pennant Hills will be the bench mark of the comp but 2nd to 8th could be any one's. From all the rumours going around all the clubs, there have been lots of big losses in squads and not much quality in the replacements. Makes this season all the more juicer. Looking forward to Pats being in Premier League next season! They are a class above and given the rest of the comp are the quality of All Age, they should go undefeated. No Redbacks this season, Epping lost half their squad, Thornleigh the same, Ravens haven't improved etc.
