Well here we are 5 rounds into this shortened season and we're starting to see who are the contenders and who are the pretenders of 2020. Some big games coming up but let's look to this weekend. HWK vs WRR- 4th placed Hawks coming up against the current cellar dwellers of the PL in WRR. A slow start to the season saw the Hawkies right alongside their opponents on the table but the last 2 weeks has seen a shift in form from the boys from Hayes. With 2 wins on the trot and 10 goals to boot they will hope to continue this form over the weekend. The same can't be said about WRR. Having earned their stripes last season they have had a miserable start to 2020. Having only mustered 2 measly points so far can they turn their luck around with an upset win at Hayes? Prediction: HWK 4 - WRR 2 EEW vs RSU - EEW, yet to taste defeat in 2020, take on the hot and cold newbies of the competition in Ryde Saints. EEW have had a typical strong start to the season having remained undefeated in the first 5 rounds with their only points dropped in draws against Hawks and STA. The only crack is in their usual stalwart defence, having leaked 11 goals (the most of the top 5 teams). Will they be able to plug the holes and continue their pressure on the premiership leaders? Ryde Saints' first time in the PL has been a bit of a mixed bag. A baptism of fire from WPH in round 1 saw them get a 9-1 "Welcome to PL" gift only to dust themselves off and win against STA the next week. Since then they have gone loss/win/loss so if the trend continues another upset could be on the cards, who knows what team will turn up on the day. Watch this space! Prediction: EEW 2 - RSU 1 NOR vs NER - A battle that could determine the season of these 2 struggling outfits. Normo so far have yet to hit their stride that saw them achieve success in the last 2 seasons and apart from a 5-2 drubbing against the hawks have had mostly close games only being decided late. With their goal scoring being their biggest issue (only 6 goals in 6 games) they will be looking to turn things around come Saturday. NER on the other hand have their biggest issue with defence. Conceding goals left right and centre (most in the league) so much so that their overpriced Manly import can't even turn the tide so far. If they want to be safe from the drop they will have to plug their defence and hope that their one man team can earn his paycheck! Prediction: NOR 2 - NER 2 WPH - STA - Easily the match of the round and a re-match of the GF. Can STA reel in the high flying WPH and seek revenge or will the boys from Campbell repeat their 2019 season, stretch their lead further and maintain the wood over the Woodies? WPH were the benchmark team last season and have picked up right where they left off and have done nothing but score goals and pickup points everywhere they go. With the most goals for (almost double of the next team) and conceding only 4 they seem to have backed up their 2019 form and have their eyes set firmly on the premiership this season. Having not been beaten in a league game since June 8th last year can STA claim bragging rights from WRR as the only team in the league able to beat the mighty lions? STA have always been contenders and this year seems to be no different. With the 2nd least goals conceded (6) but only 11 goals for, most of their matches have been won in typical, gritty STA fashion and if any team can pinch points off their rivals it's them. So brace yourselves for a huge clash at Campbell Park. Prediction: WPH 3 - STA 1 EFC vs PEN - A vital week for both teams with the young lads from Epping being up and down with previous results. They're currently looking to just make up the numbers this season unfortunately. Close wins against Hawks and Nerds is all that stands between this team and the dropzone so they will be looking to confirm their position towards the top half of the table with a win against their unusually out-of-form rivals. What else can you can but wow, so far Penno have by far and away been the underachievers of the season. Sitting in a very unfamiliar 2nd last the only saving grace was a first round win against bottom of the table WRR. Since then it's been loss after loss from the lads in Green, a far stretch from the decorated success of previous seasons. Having not scored a single goal in their last 4 matches it really is dire straits for PEN and anything less than a win this weekend puts them in real danger. Prediction: EFC 2 - PEN 1

The week that we have all been waiting for: TG gets to have his revenge vs Jamie the north epping pony. You can bang on about WPH v STA and the grand final rematch, but if you want to see a good old fashion arm wrestle, my money would be on watching Jamie's protege, Jack the ripper Fulton take on the TG well oiled silver tails.

We've got some new players who are yet to gel but we will come good. Just remember, we're the current GHFA Cup champs so give us some respect Hills will be shown this weekend what a Rover spanking is

Still haven’t got a “W” in normal time the whole year. :/

Jamey hasnt been the registered NER coach for the last 2 seasons... As for TG, if half the rumours are true about last Saturday, he'll be spending time on the sidelines this week...

Right on cue Mark... TG is facing a GPT hearing. Sounds like he might out for the season

What an absolute joke! Geez there are some weak, pathetic referees out there. Can't handle criticism that they're not up to scratch to referee at this kind of level. Anything more than 2 matches, just shows how low this competition has become.

Sure thing

Almost guarantee that the referee will get off with goading the coach... He was seriously out of line. Couldn't handle himself!
