It All Comes Down to This

Glenhaven good riddance, Normo were nufties, Penno were astro-poor, West Ryde weren't woeful, Epping ebbed and flowed, Gladesville gave gob and guts for no glory, West Penno went well but not well enough, Hills Hawks huffed but ran out of puff, and so then there were two - St Andrew's who steamrolled the second half of season twenty-sixteen and Kenthurst the undisputed kings of the comp. After an abridged finals series devoid of its usual dose of drama the big day seems all too quickly upon us. The GF pits the two form teams of the comp against each other. These two faced off on the Queen's Birthday weekend in what was effectively the first game of the second round of the season. It resulted in a hard fought 1-all draw. From that point on both teams embarked on long winning streaks. Eastwood won 7 on the trot before suffering a final round loss to a desperate Ravens outfit. Kenthurst's win streak stands unbroken at 9 straight! On form this is the GF that was always going to be. Sir Luke has led his troops marvellously again this year to confound the doomsayers who had written the Bushboys off after one quiet year in 2015. The recruitment of the prolific Tim Simpson to partner young Kel Gibbons up front proved a master stroke. Mix in the guile of Matt Seale, the set piece threats of Roodenburg and Muggleton, and it was all too much for the competition to handle.   All, that is, except for the Woodies. St Andrew's is the only team who can boast a winning record against Kenthurst this year. Add their mid-year draw to a 2-1 win early in the season and you'd have to think the Bushies hold no fear for the Woods. Michael Pearson is playing champagne football, Crowey is safe as houses up back, and Horse is doing whatever it is he does - running around like a chook with his head cut off at a million miles a minute! But somehow it's a formidable combination! Can Eastwood repeat the A-League feat of Adelaide coming from next to last to win the comp? Or will Kenthurst cap off their season of dominanace? Who is your money on? The blood shirts of Kenthurst or the blood nuts of Eastwood? Should be a cracking, if unpretty game of football, with a late winner from the fleet of foot Kel Gibbons to split them in regular time. Prediction: KEN 2-1 The Bushboys 2nd's went through the season undefeated with 13 wins and 5 draws. One look at the table and this game should be a lock. However, the earlier game is actually a striking mirror image of the top grade fixture. Two of Kenthurst's five draws came against their grand final opponent Normo, both 1-all results. Following their second match both sides went on longish win streaks. Normo's was snapped at 4 with a last round draw to Glenhaven. Kenthurst have won 6 straight unfettered. So again we have the two form teams of the comp facing off! The Eagles have no doubt juggled playing stocks to have some of their better players eligible for reserve grade finals. But let's be honest, Normo seems to be a squad of 30 decent reserve grade standard players, so that shouldn't count for too much. Hard to split them in this one with Kenthurst disadvantaged by having to spread their squad over two games on the day. History may well repeat itself with a third draw and Juice to star in the shootout. Prediction: 1-all (KEN on pens)    Good luck going for that silverware, gents.

Thanks

Nice work with the predictions Mr EUS! Spot on with both results, although I would've got the scores right too...
