Golden Boot 2008
Posted by: Admin ()
Date: February 14, 2008 08:15PM

Admin will again offer to keep tabs on a "Golden Boot" in 2008, in both 1st and reserve grade.

We are currently aiming to award a pair of premium range boots to the top scorer in each grade, courtesy of Nike [www.nike.com.au] .

To make this work we naturally want all 10 PL clubs participating, with one volunteer from each team prepared to lodge scores on this site. A minimum 7 teams will be required to make the exercise worthwhile. (Update 8.24pm 15/2/08): We now have known volunteers from at least 7 confirmed participating clubs, so looks like the GB will get off the ground this year. Now just waiting on PEN, EEW & NER.

Top goal scorers will be able to select from the following premium Nike range:

Mercurial Vapor IV - valued at $350
Total 90 Laser II - valued at $280
Tiempo Ronaldinho - valued at $280
Tiempo Legend - valued at $240

So, we are now opening it up for volunteers to come forward. Views invited. The proposed RULES are:

1. Admin will require ONE person from each PL club to submit the names of scorers in each grade, and number of goals scored.

2. That person must be a registered user of this site (to register, click on the "Register" tag located at the top of this page; type in your username, email address and password, then "register"winking smiley.

3. The name of the person lodging details of scorers and goals scored to be disclosed to Admin via private message.

4. If it is necessary for a replacement nominee to lodge details, rules (2) and (3) apply to that person.

5. Admin will set up an "official Golden Boot" thread each week (eg Round 1 Golden Boot) and all goal scorers and goals for that round to be lodged there. Details to be posted by (a) club, (b) grade (1st/Res), (c) players full name, (d) number of goals.

6. Names of scorers & goals to be lodged no later than 7.00pm on the Wednesday following the round. Failure to lodge in time will rule out the scorer being added to the tally.

7. Competition ends with the last game of the competition rounds (does not include the finals rounds).

8. Admin will post a summarised leader board each week under the "Top Goal Scorers" tag.

9. Players will be eligible to be credited with goals scored in both 1st and reserve grade, but goals scored whilst playing reserve grade will be credited to the reserve grade tally and goals scored whilst playing 1st grade will be credited to the 1st grade tally.

10. Admin decisions and interpretation of these rules will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. If more than one player scores the same number of goals at the end of the competition, the player which arrives at the top of the leader board first will be judged the winner.

I will put in for the LEA

I have floated this idea before how about a voting system for GHFA player of the year.

If a person from each team is going to fair dinkum about putting the goal scorer in each week how about awarding the opposition players with a 3,2,1 system.

Post it here weekly with a table then send the last 4 rounds into admin by PM.

In the MWFA PL you its compulsory for teams to do it.

If you wanted to go one step further you could award the keepers marks out of ten.

It will only work if you get full participation.

Golden Glove - can be decided on number of Clean Sheets kept. That is how it is done in England with the EPL.

EEW stroker ended up with about 15 i think last year. Ryan from THN had 16.

People were not far off him last year, but he was never going to lose it.

I think a new player to join PL will get it this year.

Raz bagged 7 or 8 against Ravens in one of their particularly piss poor outings. Gave him a massive helping hand in that tally.

The game where Thornleigh won 8-1 against the Ravens was a joke.

The referee was wearing blue and gold that day. Awarded Thornleigh a penalty for a hand ball that hit the player on the chest after he had been pushed in the back anyway, gave the Thunder a goal after Raz hand balled it over the last defender and came up with numerous other blunders in the first half to give Thornleigh a comfortable lead at half time.

Amazing stuff......just as bad as the Nth Epping/Ravens ressies game a couple of years back where the ref sent about 10 players off.

But I'm not bitter....
