After all the froth and bubble on the forum this week aren't we all glad that Gladesville and West Ryde will likely only play each other twice this season! Less drivel with words, more dribble with footballs I say! A fascinating round of football awaits us this Saturday. It's one of those pivotal rounds that can shape a season. So let's get things back on track here and preview the action: WPH (2nd) v RAV (3rd) Despite Darcy Page being the closest thing to breaking the internet since Kim Kardashian's derriere, realists will know the Ravens along with the Lions are two sides whose current position on the table is inflated by them both having won four games against bottom half of the table teams. But with Normo, Penno and St Andrews under-performing, this game is vital. With both having tough fixtures to round out the first half of the season the winner this Saturday may still find themselves in the Top 4 come the midpoint of the year. While the loser will likely begin a slide back to mid-table mediocrity. It's that important! The Lions have kept banging in the goals this year while the Ravens have really tightened up defensively. An interesting clash of styles on Saturday. Prediction: WPH 2-1 WRR (7th) v HWK (4th) Following back to back drubbings of last year's grand finalists a snap committee meeting was called at Meadowbank. Point one on the agenda was to consider changing the club's name to Leicester Ryde Rovers. Point two was to consider changing back-to-back hatrick hero Jayden Young's name by deed poll to Jamie Vardy II. Since then the fairytale of West Ryde and their array of Pacific Island minnow Internationals has struck rougher waters. The Jayden Young well has run dry and the reality of the premier league grind has set in. Meanwhile the Hawks were shocked into action by their first round shocker against Kenthurst. Since then they have inched back into contention with three wins over some lesser lights and a confidence building draw with Epping Eastwood at home last week. The open pastures and lack of atmosphere makes Meadowbank a hard venue to get up for the contest. The locals will be keen to get the fairytale back on script but you'd have to think the Rock, the Rosier, the Vriens and their fellow Hawks will have too much in the kit bag. Prediction: HWK 3-1 GLH (10th) v STA (9th) This game brings together the two most disappointing teams of season 2016 thus far. Apart from their 5-1 shellacking at the hands of the Rovers, though, last year's GF champions from Eastwood have only lost by the odd goal each time. And with their only win coming against the ladder leaders they will feel this is the game to launch their season revival. If anyone is going to be the Adelaide Utd of the GHFA premier league this year it will be Eastwood and not Glenhaven - you heard it here first! Glenhaven have been abysmal and look set to follow the lead of the Y last year by coming up to the PL only to drop straight back down. Copping 4 goals a game says something about player attitude as much as it does player quality. They'll be up against a desperate, seasoned side at home on Saturday. It's time for the newcomers to stand up, be counted, show some ticker, prove to themselves and others they belong here!  Prediction: STA 2-1 NOR (8th) v PEN (6th)  Two more disappointments of season 2016 to this point. The return of Green and Scholesy, though, has breathed fresh life and optimism into Penno's campaign. The 6 they banged in against GLH last week is an ominous sign for the competition. Normo will need to be on their game to stop the Green Machine's march up the table this Saturday. The Eagles are developing a reputation for being the whingers of the competition. This comes with a young squad who maybe overachieved last year and probably expected a better return this year as a result. In football at this level as you learn to lose like men and not boys you'll be amazed how soon you begin to win like men and not boys - maturely, consistently. That said, Normo have been there and thereabouts this year - evidenced by a tight 3-2 loss to the competition yardstick last week. Can they make another step in their transition to football manhood this Saturday? Prediction: 2-2 EEW (5th) v KEN (1st) Two old foes lock horns at what is surely the match of the round at Boronia. The Tigers have once again relied on a water tight defence which, apart from their aberration against the Rovers, has only conceded one goal in 6 other hours of football. While for the Bushboys, apart from their routine loss to bogey side St Andrews, it has been a return to usual programming at KP2 after an uncharacteristically disappointing year in 2015. Some mouth watering match-ups await with Forbes taking on Peatey in midfield and Simpson trying to get one over Mouyis. Kenthurst win and a 5-point break over their fellow premiership aspirants could be telling even this far out. Epping win and they leapfrog the Bushies into anything as high as top spot depending on other results. All to play for in this one! Prediction: 1-1 Best of luck for the weekend, gents. Seasons rise and fall on rounds like this. No pressure.

Love the write up Mr Eus. I will make one addition, the recruitment book has been running hot and the introduction of some previously signed superstars looks imminent. Watch this space as we see the mighty bush march up the ladder led by old faithful Big Mac.
