Round 3 (who knows when round 1 and 2 was) 19/20 March KEN v Sydney Uni SFC PEN v Prospect United FC GLH v Coogee United ('15 CoC winners) RAV v Lane Cogve FC WPH bye - to play Sydney Olympic rd 4 NOR bye - to play The Entrance FC rd 4 Don't think there's any other PLs entered that I could see

no
wrote on 04-Mar-16 10:01

There was no round 1 and 2, There are 7 rounds so the national structure is the same, but it is used for states where there are less qualifications, and need 7 rounds to get to the desired number or it has been put in to factor growth The newcastle stuff was Northern NSW, who get 1 entry.

Normo are playing Northshore Mariners in round 4, as per the draw, not The Entrance FC. Are they the feeder premier league club for Central Coast?

Juice
wrote on 04-Mar-16 14:06

Ah yes... old eyes struggled with the tiny print. Northshore Mariners are a PL 2 side. Tough hit out first game for NOR.

Question
wrote on 22-Mar-16 07:08

Mitch, not trying to hammer you guys, but I am trying to understand something. And this question could be directed at Putney as well. How do you concede 12 goals in 90 minutes? (not trying to be rude, serious question) Were they that much better than you? were you missing players? gameplan was wrong? I only ask that in recent years there have been lower level teams playing better teams without the score blowing out that much, so maybe its a question on how would you play it differently if you had it over again?

Dragon Mitch
wrote on 22-Mar-16 09:05

Mate we did have a frw guys out and had a few Reserves guys in. If we had our "full" team then yeah it would have been better but obviously would still have lost. It was a big learning curb for a lot of our guys who have never played a game like that. It was 0-1 after 20 minutes and then heads went down after the next couple of goals. And at the end of the day we are a S/L clubtrying hard to get established in our division and they were VERY good

Dragon Mitch
wrote on 22-Mar-16 09:06

No offence taken mate. Nobody likes getting pumped but it was a fun experience and hopefully we can learn a bit from it

Question
wrote on 22-Mar-16 09:07

Thanks Mitch. Definitely dont mean to insult you, just wanted to undderstand the level thats out there as my club doesnt participate. Id rather try and lose 12-0 then not enter at all.

Yeah, becuase its putney. I mean as in they and north shore would be the more beatable then manly and sydney olympic. Reality is that all 4 would lose, but if i was a betting man, id still take that and north shore over the other 2....

Dont expect them to play young guys. Mate at North Sydney played Spartans last year who fielded full first team, and apparently blacktown did the same last year to arrat

Huh?

In all seriousness, not being a knob at all, how do you think WPH will go against Olympic? Im guessing Olympic will play a lot of young guys. But even still, about 8-0?

I doubt your credentials as a historian. The tiger turf is not defunct. It was renamed to the Waratah cup, which still exists in a new format. Knob

Ravens vs Manly 7.30pm kickoff at Valentine Park this Wednesday, 6 April 2016. Ravens to field a full strength side with rumours of Manly doing the same. Should be the biggest occasion on the Ravens calendar this year.

FFA
wrote on 05-Apr-16 13:01

Looks like Ararat lost to Wagga 4-2 after leading 2-1. Hopefully there will be more respectable efforts from GHFA this round as opposed to last.

comparison
wrote on 05-Apr-16 13:05

The last GHFA team to play a NSW Pl team was Ararat. They lost 6-0.

Match report has goals in the 85th, 86th and 88th minute, so it would have been 3-0 till late.

Respectable effort from the shittest team in the GHFA PL/SL leagues (no offense intended, but they came last inSL in 2015)

Should expect Ravens to find the back of the net and maybe lose 3-1, 4-1

Went down to watch West pennant hills v sydney olympic tonight, was a real exciting game after 40 minutes was still nil nil with the run of play pretty much even, it was a good job by west penno to showcase some of the talent we have in ghfa, it was actually a really good performance and you could see a big effort. The olympic team and coaching staff were really frustrated by some good play by wph. Im not a fan of wph but must say was a pretty good effort and looks like they have improved from last year.

olympic scored late in the first half, then got most of them late in the second half to score 6 or 7, but honestly i found myself cheering and clapping for wph in the first half as they really took it to olympic in the first half, they seem to have a really good mixture of youth and experience at the back which made me think wph could be a contender this year

Olympic

WPH 0-7 Sydney Olympic

THE ROCK
wrote on 07-Apr-16 08:08

If WPH kept them scoreless for 40mins, then that is a massive positive for Jules and his boys! Big diff btw GHFA and NSWPL, although i doubt Olympic were full strength. Any subs at half time? or WPH just run out of gas?

JM

Is Cheyne between the sticks for WPH this year?

sidelines
wrote on 07-Apr-16 09:04

Very impressive from the west penno youngsters, they will be dangerous this year. Olympic just started 4 first graders, however even the lowest player on their roster is on another level so well done WPH, big things to come

#9
wrote on 07-Apr-16 09:08

To be fair it could've been 15-0 the amount of chances Olympic managed to spoon. Also great shift put in by the WPH keeper, some smart saves.

Agreed, could have been a very different game if Normo scored one of their early chances when they looked well on top. Playing on the artificial turf at Valentine made for some great quality football, suiting both teams passing games.

Normo had a player clean through on a 1v1 only to be denied by some great goalkeeping, as well as a chance go centimetres wide of the top corner, all before Mariners had any real chances.

Great effort Normo
