Drake, I'm assuming you know a bit to provide these details. Can you correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the notion of a GHFA Cup to be a pre-season comp that finished early into the comp?... As opposed to something that goes well into the season? I don't have an issue either way, though it's damn cold in July at Christie at 8:30pm lol, but was just curious.

Nah - can just read! lol
Originally, yes I believe it was more of a pre-season thing, but has grown with more teams entering.
It has been discussed, and will probably be a topic this year at the MC / Board meetings. Best thing I could advise is pass it back through your Club and Club Delegate to get it discussed and see whether it can be modified.
Having Pre-season, GHFA Cup, FFA Cup and normal comp can get a bit ragged for some teams too...
I've said it before and I'll say it again.
Rounds 1 and 2 at least should be played pre-season, at grounds which are not impacted by summer sports - grounds like Peel, Eastwood and Pennant Hills.
If the lighting isn't good enough, you could still hold a game at 5pm on a Sunday afternoon. That's when clubs normally hold trials anyway. Who cares if a team gets a home game if it improves scheduling.
As the astro fields come on line, the # fields available for use should increase.
I think North epping players should redirect their thoughts to the Super League Tab as they won't have much to discuss with all the other PL teams this year.
Glenhaven won 1-0 against Ravens. Pretty scrappy game, Ravens had the best of the play but couldn't find the net (missed a penalty). Glenhaven took their chance and then defended well for 70 mins. Glenhaven keeper had a cracking game. Should be interesting to see how they go on the season.

Well good luck playing them, they couldn't get a ressie squad on the park on the weekend and only 11 players for 1st on the weekend. The game only last 50min as 2 guys came off injured. Poor form by thornliegh.

It's not actually insurance, it a accident support scheme, so you are not covered by anything covered by Medicare, but you get 75% gap after you claim from private health insurance and if your silly enough not to have private health insurance when you play football, then you still get 75% back from non-medicare bills. Who got a letter of rejection.
I would hardly say played them off the park but hawks looked shite to say the least.
2-2
And lost 5-4 on pens.
Hawks probably missed 3-4 open goals and couldn't handle the kick and chase tactic of eew
As an unbiased spectator of the game between the Hawks and Epping,I was surprised when I heard that Epping were an all age and hawks are premier league as Epping completely outplayed them with a neat passing and all hawks could do was resort to a kick an chase style.good to see an all age team dominate a p/l side, but worrying signs for the season ahead for the Hawks who need to improve a lot to be a competitive side this year
Match 8: Wednesday 13 April (6.30) PUT vs YMA (AA) Match 9: Wednesday 13 April (8.30) STU vs RED Match 10 Wednesday 20 April (6.30) KEN vs NMH Match 11: Wednesday 20 April (8.30) PEN vs MAC Match 12: Wednesday 4 May (6.30) STA vs ARA Match 13: Wednesday 4 May (8.30) WPH vs WRR Match 14: Wednesday 11 May (6.30) MCS vs NER Match 15: Wednesday 11 May (8.30) GLH vs EEW All (AA)

The cup needs to stay. Not every team plays FFA Cup (and after some of the results, that may drop).
It also gives teams who may not make the finals (or be anywhere close) a chance to play in a do or die game.
For teams playing FFA Cup, there is probably 20 players or so who wont get picked for that, and this cup provides coaches a chance to give youngsters cup experience.

We spent years arguing for a cup. Stupid suggestion to take it away.
At the end of the day, it should give some of the better teams a chance to give their better ressies players a shot but I think over the years, the winners of the cup prove that it has merit with Ken, Phd, Sta, Pen (?) all winning it.
Hawks ressies should beat an AA team but looks like they didn't get their player balance right and were punished accordingly. Maybe they don't care. The STA team looked like a bit of a balance from what I could see on the night. I would say they would like to go on with it with some ressies and first graders, for example. I'm sure other teams will do the same
I think they did it so that winners of next round were obvious, the only tough pick is the rovers vs glenheaven match, and the Woodies get the Gimme ( free pass to the next round).
